Sean Nelson (MM ’10; DMA student) has won an audition with the United States Coast Guard Band based in New London, Connecticut. After auditioning in a competitive field of sixteen players, Sean was chosen as the winner. And he did this with an instrument that had been badly damaged by the airline! Sean will be playing section trombone and will also be the trombonist for the Dixieland and Swing Bands. Currently a teaching fellow in both the UNT trombone studio and the UNT jazz studies area, Sean is also a member of the One O’Clock Lab Band. Sean has been a student of Tony Baker since Fall 2007 and has received additional trombone instruction from Vern and Jan Kagarice. Congratulations, Sean! We know you’ll do a great job
